ATLANTA, Ga., June 5, 2000 - Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, and Twentieth Century Fox (NYSE: FOX), will join forces on June 6 to make motion picture history when Cisco becomes the first company ever to digitally transmit a film over a coast-to-coast IP (Internet Protocol) network. Fox's animated action adventure epic, TITAN A.E. will be transported across the nation and digitally premiered at the Supercomm trade show in Atlanta.
Through a highly secure network based on the latest Cisco technology, the movie will be transferred on June 6 from Fox's studio in Los Angeles via Qwest Communications International Inc.'s CyberCenter in Burbank, Calif., to the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta for an unprecedented all-digital theatrical experience. The network uses Internet technology from Cisco including Cisco 12000 Series Internet routers running over a high-speed fiber backbone and Cisco 7140 Virtual Private Network (VPN) and security routers with integrated firewall and hardware Triple DES encryption.
TITAN A.E. represents a new generation of filmed animation, with a team of artists, animators, and computer effects specialists blending exciting new technologies, cutting-edge computer imagery and classic animation to create the films spectacular new worlds and vivid characters. TITAN A.E. features the vocal talent of Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore, Bill Pullman, Janeane Garofalo, Nathan Lane, and John Leguizamo. The film opens nationwide on June 16.

The Cisco Digital Cinema Network
The Cisco Digital Cinema network is an example of one of many New World applications enabled by Cisco networking technology for service providers and enterprises. The TITAN A.E. file is being transmitted over Qwest's North American IP backbone and Dedicated Internet Access service, which employ Cisco 12000 Series Internet routers and Cisco 7140 routers for VPN security.

For the premiere of Titan A.E., the Cisco Content Services Group is managing the transfer of the movie over Qwest's network, providing the content distribution management necessary to ensure a highly reliable transfer process. Once the TITAN A.E. file reaches the Atlanta theater, it will be stored on a QuVIS Inc. server and projected using a Barco/ Texas Instruments DLP Cinema digital projector. Sigma Designs Group has built a state-of-the-art Txrus Compound Curve Screen and Eastern AcousticWorks has provided a customized digital audio sound system for the event.
