Atlanta, April 7, 2000 - Cypress Communications (NASDAQ:CYCO) today announced its nationwide high-speed dedicated Internet service has received the Cisco Powered Network designation. Cypress Communications' broadband data services are based on a network infrastructure from Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO), the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet.

Cypress Communications is installing advanced broadband networks inside multi-tenant commercial office buildings, utilizing fiber-optic, copper and coaxial cables combined with an advanced technology point of presence within each served building.

The Cisco multiservice access routers that Cypress Communications deploys in target office buildings provide a solid platform for enhanced service offerings. Cypress Communications is well positioned to take advantage of new Cisco network modules, which offer increased operating efficiency and enable a host of innovative services.

As a Cisco Powered Network member, Cypress Communications' customers will be receiving high-speed Internet access and data solutions that are high-performance, customer focused, reliable and secure.

"Cisco shares our vision that an IP network is the foundation for delivering intelligent business solutions that will give our customers a competitive advantage," said R. Stanley Allen, CEO of Cypress Communications. "By deploying Cisco's market leading technology, we are able to quickly bring advanced, customer-centric and secure networking solutions to the marketplace."

Cypress Communications has constructed its networks in over 200 buildings nationwide, and is on its way to install broadband communications networks in at least 550 more, representing more than 230 million square feet in 50 metropolitan areas.

"Cypress Communications' customers in its growing presence in commercial buildings nationwide now have broadband access enabled by a network built on Cisco's high-quality and highly secure components," said Kevin Outcalt, senior director of service provider marketing of Cisco. "With a common focus on providing customers a comprehensive solution, we are pleased to welcome Cypress as a new member of the Cisco Powered Network program."

A benefit of the program for Cypress Communications is their participation in joint marketing and technology-sharing activities with Cisco.
