SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - February 17, 2000 - Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, announced the availability today of new Windows. 2000-ready Cisco applications. The applications were featured in the keynote demonstrations at the Windows 2000 launch event, broadcast to a worldwide audience.

Today, Cisco provided the network for Microsoft Windows 2000 as Bill Gates demonstrated the ease of use and reliability of Internet business applications on stage during his keynote presentation. The new capabilities in Windows 2000, coupled with Cisco's intelligent network services, provided the high availability and scalability for the e-commerce demonstration. The Cisco Catalyst 6500 and 5500 switches provided the scalable performance needed to support over 500 clients at Fast Ethernet speeds and over 30 Windows 2000 servers at Gigabit Ethernet speeds.

The enterprise demonstration showed how to provide network-wide quality of services (QoS) for Windows Media video streams. Today's demonstrations showed how easy it is to change a user's profile and the networking QoS policies associated with it using Cisco QoS Policy Manager and CiscoWorks2000 User Registration Tool. These are among the first Cisco networking products to support Active Directory.

Internet business solutions such as e-commerce, supply chain management, e-learning, workforce optimization and customer care are best delivered by taking advantage of the integration between Cisco intelligent network devices, the Windows 2000 operating system and Active Directory.

The Cisco Windows 2000-ready products are Cisco Network Registrar, CiscoWorks2000 User Registration Tool, Cisco Networking Services for Active Directory, Cisco IP/TV Streaming Video, and Cisco Secure Scanner.
