SINGAPORE -- 10 January 2000 -- Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, has promoted Todd A. Abbott to Vice President of Asia Operations, an area which comprises Hong Kong, India, Indochina, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
Mr Abbott has been in the region for over two years, first as Managing Director of South Asia and then Managing Director of Asia, where he has helped grow the company's business by over 60 per cent year-on-year. Reporting directly to Richard Freemantle, the Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific for Cisco Systems, Mr Abbott is based in Singapore.
"Cisco's operations in Asia have some of the fastest growing markets in the world including India, Korea and Taiwan where telecommunications deregulation and intense Internet growth is creating a lot of exciting opportunities. Cisco Systems' Asia Pacific Theatre comprises the Asia, Australia/New Zealand and China operations.
Mr Abbott has been with Cisco for five years in various sales management positions in its New York operations. Before moving to Asia, he was the Regional Manager of Cisco's Global Banking Region in New York for one and a half years, responsible for global sales and support of large financial enterprises.
He has 17 years industry experience and has worked previously with IBM in a number of sales and sales management positions across different industries throughout north-eastern United States.
