San Jose, Calif. -- August 10, 1999 -- Cisco today announced the appointment of Scott Marshall as Group Vice President, Service Provider Access and Aggregation Products. Scott joins Cisco from Newbridge Networks in Ontario, Canada.
The Service Provider Access and Aggregation Products Group includes Cisco's DSL & Systems Software Business Unit (BU), Cable/Wireless BU, the Remote Access BU, and the newly announced Fixed and Mobile Wireless BU, according to Kevin Kennedy, Senior Vice President, Service Provider Line of Business.
"Scott brings with him a unique marriage of expertise in the carrier as well as data communications industries," said Kennedy. "This new group structure is designed to integrate these markets and products under one umbrella. This new focus will allow us to respond to customers more rapidly, assimilate acquisitions more seamlessly, bring ideas to market faster and bolster our efforts in these quickly emerging technologies for the long-haul."
Scott comes to Cisco from Newbridge Networks where he spent the last 12 years of his career, most recently as the Executive Vice President of Switching Products. Prior to that role, Scott had responsibilities at Newbridge for data communications product development and ultimately for all Newbridge Research and Development.
Scott has a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Over his career he has worked at Bell-Northern Research and Mitel where he was instrumental in the strategy, architecture and development of Mitel's first all-digital PBX. Additionally, Scott was president of Synapse Data, a consulting firm specializing in network management and data communications product development.
