CHICAGO, Ill, National Cable Television Association -- June 14, 1999 -- Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet announced today that High Speed Access Corp. (NASDAQ: HSAC), a leading provider of high-speed Internet access via cable modems to exurban markets (cable systems with fewer than 100,000 homes passed), will offer New World services over a Cisco Powered Network to both the global cable industry and to home users with cable modem service.

By choosing to build HSAC high-speed Internet access on a Cisco-powered infrastructure which includes Data-over-Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS)-based Cisco Universal Broadband Routers (uBR) and Cisco AS5300s for use in the HSAC Dial ISP services, their customers receive all the benefits of end-to-end networking. This infrastructure includes simplified, cost-effective and secure network management, higher network availability, and faster time-to-market and deployment of New World network services.

"Our relationship with Cisco provides us the opportunity to deploy advanced, secure, customer-centric, high-speed Internet and broadband networking solutions to the consumer and business marketplace," said Ron Pitcock, president of HSAC. "Both organizations share the vision that the rapid development of dynamic cable business solutions provides the customer with the necessary strategic competitive advantage."

"With qualified Cisco Powered Network services, HSAC customers can be confident they are receiving an industry-leading cable network service built on Cisco's high-performance, reliable and secure components."

HSAC's participation in the Cisco Powered Network program demonstrates its ability to provide industry-leading technology solutions and services that are based predominantly on Cisco solutions. A benefit of the program for HSAC is their participation in joint marketing, technology sharing and selling activities with Cisco. HSAC, along with Cisco, is helping to create a New World communications infrastructure that supports high-value integrated communications services.
