New Initiative Focuses on Reseller Success in the Small and Growing Business Market

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- April 19, 1999 -- Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced a comprehensive suite of programs and marketing alliances designed to assist resellers in more effectively serving the small and growing business market. Although many small firms have begun to adopt Internet technologies, many more have not yet realized the full potential of the Internet. With more than 1 million small and growing businesses (20-100 employees) currently in the US, and 12,000 new businesses entering the market each year, this market represents a tremendous revenue opportunity for value-added resellers.

"This program significantly expands the range of customers that we can profitably serve," said Ron Guilbault, vice president of sales, Powercom. "We are very excited to be able to participate with Cisco in this initiative."

"Cisco is transforming the way small to medium-sized companies are doing business on the Internet," said Grace Lanni, director of sales, Millennium Solutions Group, Inc. "Teaming with Cisco gives us a high level of credibility as a value-added reseller and the Small Business Resource Network program extends that credibility to a new and rapidly growing market."

Cisco is transforming the way organizations conduct business with the Internet. Cisco's Resource Network for Growing Businesses allows resellers to leverage Cisco's expertise to profitably sell to and support small businesses through complete Internet business solutions. Cisco has formed joint marketing alliances with software companies such as SalesLogix, Great Plains Software, Netmosphere, Employease and eCompany Network to help create and deliver fully tested solutions for small and growing business environments. Combining software solutions with the network enables Cisco and its resellers to provide small and growing companies with an optimized end-to-end solution.

"Small and growing businesses represent the next great revenue opportunity. Resellers can take advantage of this opportunity by partnering with Cisco," said Richard Steranka, Cisco director of marketing, small and medium business.

In addition to Internet business solutions from a growing network of hardware and software alliances, Cisco is offering a wide range of software tools, training programs, individual certification programs and pre- and post-sales support, to help resellers identify sales opportunities and give them the tools they need to be successful in this market. Cisco resellers are now well prepared to serve a rapidly growing base of small business customers. Increased support translates into enhanced value-added reseller knowledge and improved customer satisfaction and recognition from small business owners.
