SAN JOSE, Calif. -- March 2, 1999 -- Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced the FastHub. 400 10/100 Series, a line of high-performance 10/100 autosensing hubs designed to offer small to medium-sized companies seamless migration to higher-performance LAN solutions. The FastHub 400 10/100 Series hubs deliver low-cost managed connectivity and unmatched flexibility to the desktop and are available in 12- and 24-port 10/100 stackable and manageable configurations.

Management and Flexibility
The FastHub 400 10/100 Series provides unmatched flexibility through a broad range of features, including management options, integrated hub stacking ports, and switched uplink modules. The managed FastHub 400 models, the 12-port FastHub 412M and 24-port FastHub 424M, include embedded Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Remote Monitoring (RMON) capabilities and a Web-based management interface. Common to the Catalyst 2900 Series XL and Catalyst 1900 LAN switching products, Web-based management provides an easy-to-use graphical interface, allowing users to manage the hubs from anywhere on an intranet using a standard browser such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Explorer. In addition, a single FastHub 412M or FastHub 424M can provide management to an entire stack of four FastHub 400 hubs.Each FastHub 400 offers an uplink slot, providing long-distance connectivity to the network core with an optional switched uplink module. Available optional uplink modules include:
- A one-port 10Base/100BaseTX switch uplink module ( one switched 10Base/100BaseTX autosensing, autonegotiating port for uplink connectivity of distances up to 100 meters
- A one-port 10Base/100BaseFX switched uplink module ( one switched 100BaseFX port for uplink connectivity of distances up to 2 kilometers
