SAN JOSE, Calif., -- January 5, 1999 -- Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today announced Topnet AG, one of the leading Internet service providers in Germany, has selected Cisco's IP+ATM end-to-end solutions for its new network platform. Topnet AG is able to rapidly deploy current IP solutions and a new generation of diverse, profitable and enduring value-added services such as integrated data, voice, video all over a single network.
Topnet AG is incorporating an advanced IP+ATM backbone into their existing network using Cisco BPX. 8600 series wide-area switches. The BPX 8600 series also brings the application richness of Cisco IOS. software to a multiservice ATM environment. This capability allows Topnet AG to maximize its return on investment by offering multiple revenue streams on a single platform. The carrier-class reliability of the Cisco BPX enables Topnet AG's services to be available around-the-clock.
"With Cisco's products, we were able to quickly move from purchasing equipment to providing diverse services to our customers which made Cisco the obvious vendor of choice for us," said Rolf Krause, director of Topnet AG.
