SAN JOSE, Calif. -- October 5, 1998 -- Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced the winners of its 7th annual supplier appreciation awards program. Awards were presented to Cisco suppliers in ten categories during a ceremony held on Friday, October 2.

"Cisco's supplier appreciation day is our way of recognizing those suppliers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their areas of expertise andare considered to be among the very best suppliers to Cisco," said Mike Campi, vice president, global supply management. "These suppliers accept the challenge of going the extra mile to support Cisco's business requirements, and routinely exceed expectations in key areas that differentiate them from their competition."

The theme of Cisco's 1998 supplier appreciation day event focused on theincreasing globalization of Cisco's supply base as the company continues to grow its worldwide capability in the area of sourcing and demand fulfillment.

Cisco Supplier Appreciation Award Winners

Suppliers in each of the ten categories were selected by a panel ofrepresentatives from Cisco's Corporate Supply Management and Global Supply Management organizations.
  1. President's Customer Satisfaction Award: Solectron Corporation,headquartered in Milpitas, CA, provides contract manufacturing services toCisco.
  2. John Morgridge Frugality Award: Xerox Corporation, headquartered inRochester, NY, provides on-site document publishing services.
  3. Small Business Award: Saint Paul Software, headquartered in St. Paul, MN, provides EDI translation software.
  4. Technology Award: Hewlett Packard, Test and Measurement Divisionheadquartered in Loveland, CO, provides x-ray laminography to Cisco.
  5. Virtual Supplier Award: Ariba Technologies, Inc. headquartered inSunnyvale, CA, provides E-commerce software to Cisco.
  6. Marketing/Workplace Resources Award: Bon Appetit Management Company, headquartered in Burlingame, CA, provides Cisco's food and service operations.
  7. Engineering/Telecom Award: Oracle Corporation, headquartered in Redwood Shores, CA, provides database systems for worldwide E-commerce.
  8. Subcontractor/Distributor Award: Jabil Circuit, Inc., headquartered in St. Petersburg, FL, provides contract manufacturing services to Cisco.
  9. Semiconductor Award: NEC Corporation, headquartered in Toyko, Japan, with US operations in Mountain View, CA, provides DRAM, ASIC and processors to Cisco.
  10. Electro/Mechanical Award: TAG Manufacturing, headquartered in San Jose, CA, provides sheet metal enclosures, tray, carriers and brackets for Cisco.
