Tak Matsumoto Promoted to Chairman



SAN JOSE, Calif. -- September 28, 1998 -- Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced the appointment of Yasuki Kurosawa as president of Nihon Cisco Systems. Also announced today is the promotion of Tak Matsumoto to chairman of Nihon Cisco Systems.

"Tak has been responsible for the exceptional growth and success of Nihon Cisco Systems. I look forward to his ongoing guidance as Cisco continues to develop our business in Japan, and to his continued leadership in the networking industry in Japan".

Yasuki Kurosawa succeeds Tak Matsumoto as president of Nihon Cisco Systems. In this role, Yasuki Kurosawa takes over responsibility for the executive management of Nihon Cisco Systems. He is also named as corporate vice president, Cisco Systems Inc. His management team will include Andy Lockhart, corporate vice president and executive officer of Nihon Cisco Systems.

Tak Matsumoto joined Cisco in April, 1992 as president of Nihon-Cisco. In this position, Matsumoto-san was responsible for the development of the Nihon-Cisco joint venture. In this venture, he and his team guided the organization of Japanese partners into a working relationship designed to promote networking in Japan. Under his leadership, Nihon Ciscoexperienced dramatic year over year growth.

Yasuki Kurosawa will assume his role as president of Nihon-Cisco on November 1, 1998. Prior to Nihon-Cisco Systems, he has held positions of increasing management scope within Hewlett Packard Japan, since 1973. His experience with HP includes general manager roles in HP's networking business and international assignments in Asia and the United States. Most recently, he was director and general manager of the enterprise account organization.
