SAN JOSE, Calif. -- June 15, 1998 -- TeleChoice, Inc. and Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced availability of an example business case and comprehensive documentation that will aid service providers in constructing a high-level business case for DSL-based services.
The business case example, which was developed by TeleChoice and sponsored by Cisco, is intended to be a vendor-neutral tool for service providers to use in assessing the viability of offering DSL-based products and services. It will be presented at the ADSL Forum Plenary meeting in Montreal on June 16.
The business case covers all aspects related to a DSL service. It covers capital, expenses and revenues associated with end-to-end consumer services. The business case outlines service provider customer charges for equipment, DSL services and an Internet account. It also covers service provider expenses for scale deployment, scale equipment purchases, extensive marketing and channel support, as well as robust processes, systems and engineering/operations support. The business case summary shows a model that produces positive cash flow and Net Present Value within three years.
"Service providers are looking for answers when it comes to making money with DSL," said Sayuri Sharper, director, DSL Marketing for Cisco Sytems. "The TeleChoice DSL Business Case enables service providers to further the delivery of DSL services in their area by providing a structure and process for analyzing deployment."
