SAN JOSE, Calif. -- June 8, 1998 -- Continuing to deliver on the promise of scalable, carrier-class networks, Cisco Systems today introduced channelized T3 (CT3) modules for the Cisco AS5800 universal access server and the >Cisco AccessPath TS3 integrated dial access system. A CT3 trunk replaces 28 T1 circuits to reduce the cost of ownership for customers.
Cisco AS5800 Channelized T3 Interface
The Cisco AS5800 CT3 interface provides a high density ingress trunk interface for the Cisco AS5800 universal access server. The Cisco AS5800 CT3 terminates a full channelized T3 trunk on a single card, instead of breaking out the T3 trunk into 28 T1 streams and terminating them on additional, multiple T1 interface cards. Since a channelized T3 circuit is typically more economical than the equivalent number of T1s, operational costs are reduced. In addition, they considerably simplify cabling and element management. The Cisco AS5800 CT3 interface provides all termination resources including HDLC on a single CT3 card, thereby increasing Cisco AS5800 capacity for customers. Because it is a single card solution that also supports 1:1 redundancy, Cisco AS5800 system reliability is superior to alternative offerings.Cisco AccessPath-TS3 Channelized T3 Interface
The Cisco AccessPath TS3 dial access stacking solution supports an optional, integrated channelized T3 multiplexer for North American service providers and large enterprises. The Cisco AccessPath TS3 can accommodate up to three integrated CT3 multiplexers with 1:1 redundancy and is engineered to grow to twice that capacity. After a thorough evaluation process, Cisco is teaming with Telco Systems to provide the CT3 multiplexer for Cisco AccessPath-TS3.Availability
The Cisco AS5800 CT3 card, CT3 multiplexer for Cisco AccessPath-TS3, the DC version and the AC version will be available in August.Cisco Systems
