MALVERN, Pa. - November 5, 1997 - Shared Medical Systems (SMS), the world's leading provider ofhealthcare information systems and services, and Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader innetworking for the Internet, today announced they are providing new, advanced, end-to-endnetworking capabilities to the health industry.

This new telecommunication solution, SMS' Remote Access Connections (RAC), enables healthcareorganizations to provide authorized users with remote access to critical health information.Remote Access Connections extends existing information networks, allowing users to remotelyaccess information using multiple methods, including private dial-up, ISDN, Frame Relay,Internet or leased lines. RAC is secure, easily implemented and scalable to expand withchanging network requirements.
