U SWEST !NTERPRISE Networking intends to deploy over 200,000 Cisco dialports for its U S WEST.net consumer and business Internet and dialaccess services over the next five years.
U S WEST !NTERPRISE will deploy Cisco AccessPath dial access systems,including the Cisco AS5200 and Cisco AS5300 universal access servers,throughout its 14-state region. The new platforms will expand U S WEST!NTERPRISE's capacity and will secure U S WEST.net's position as one ofthe nation's most advanced Internet, intranet and extranet solutionproviders.
High Performance, Density and Management Uniquely Position AccessPath
U S WEST !NTERPRISE selected the Cisco AccessPath dial access systemfor its high performance, port density and management capabilities. The Cisco AccessPath system is a fully configured dial access systemthat merges universal dial access, industry-leading routing andhigh-speed data backhaul capabilities into a single scalablearchitecture. The Cisco AccessPath enables service providers to deploymultiple points of presence (POPs) quickly and cost-effectively andscales to several thousand dial ports per POP. All AccessPathcomponents are integrated in a self-contained rack cabinet, and arecentrally managed with AccessPath Manager, a Web-based system management software application designed to enable a host of CiscoIOS software network services across the AccessPath architecture.
