Exodus Communications and Cisco Team to Offer Advanced End-To-End Networking Solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif. - October 28, 1997 - Exodus Communications, Inc. the leading provider ofInternet Data Center services, and Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), the worldwide leader innetworking for the Internet, today announced that Exodus' Internet Data Centers have beenselected to participate in the Cisco Powered Network program. Exodus is the first InternetData Center - a facility that provides customers with network management capabilities as wellas Web server co-location - to be selected for the program.

Under the program, the two companies will team to offer reliable, secure and high-performanceInternet services to deliver enhanced connectivity and network-based applications to customers.In the Cisco Powered Network program, Exodus will market Internet Systems Management servicesbased predominately on Cisco equipment and software.

The Exodus Internet Data Centers leverage Cisco networking solutions to provide unparalleledbandwidth and network management to a growing number of corporate Web sites. Through Exodus'advanced network management capabilities the solutions provided by Cisco, the Exodus InternetData Centers are able to accommodate massive and rapid increases in "hits" to a Web site, hostWebcasting events and enable corporations to rely on the Internet to deploy mission-criticalbusiness applications.

The Exodus Internet Data Centers use a variety of Cisco products including the Cisco 7500series routers and the Cisco Catalyst 5500 switches with Route Switch Modules (RSM). Inaddition, Exodus uses the Cisco Distributed Director and Cisco Local Director to direct Webtraffic to the network hub closest to the customer's location.
