Gigabit Networking Solutions

As the leading provider of switched internetworking solutions, Cisco is committed to thedevelopment of technology and products that provide gigabit transmission speeds for end-to-endnetworks. Gigabit Ethernet is a key technology for implementation of widespread gigabitnetworking in campus intranets. There will be a number of Gigabit Ethernet Solution elementson display running live applications in the booth. They include Gigabit Ethernet uplinks forthe Catalyst® 5X00 switch family, Gigabit Ethernet line cards, Gigabit Ethernet localswitching modules and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces on the Cisco 7500 series.

Cisco has been investing aggressively in Gigabit Ethernet technologies and will delivercomplete, standards-compliant solutions to customers soon after the 802.3z specification isratified by the IEEE. That decision is expected in March of 1998.
