SAN JOSE, Calif.- August 13, 1997- Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced that Dallas-based CurtisMathes has chosen a suite of Cisco products, including the Cisco AS5200 Universal AccessServer, for the delivery of uniViewTM Internet, online, telephone and entertainment servicesto its customers via their home television sets.
Curtis Mathes and Cisco are working together to streamline uniView access services throughdelivery of an end-to-end scalable solution that integrates high-performance dial access, routing, switching and security platforms with Cisco IOS Software features that enable ahost of value-added network services. The flexibility and scalability of this solution combinedwith industry-leading service and support programs enable Curtis Mathes to decrease operatingcosts and assure maximum service reliability to its customers.

Curtis Mathes uniView enables a host of interactive services through consumer home televisionsets. The Cisco AS5200 universal access server aggregates incoming customer calls and routesinquiries to their appropriate destinations. A Cisco PIX firewall ensures secure Internetaccess, and a CiscoSecure AAA Security Server authenticates subscribers dialing in. The CurtisMathes Xpressway network made up of Cisco routers and Catalyst switches enables customers tosurf the Web, talk on the phone, send and receive faxes and e-mail, access TV program guidesand program their VCRs.
