Cisco Announces General Availability of Free 56-kbps Upgrades

SAN JOSE, Calif. - August 4, 1997 - Cisco Systems, Inc. announced today generalavailability of 56-kbps technology for the Cisco AS5200 universal access server. All CiscoAS5200 purchases made between February 1, 1997 and this announcement qualify for free 56-kbpsupgrades.

Customer purchases made prior to February 1, 1997 will qualify for 56-kbps upgrades at asubstantial discount off of the U.S. list price. Cisco has standardized its 56-kbps strategy onthe K56Flex modem protocol jointly developed by Rockwell and Lucent. Cisco will support theindustry standard as it emerges through a software upgrade program.
