Cisco Delivers 56K Technology to CompuServe Network Services

Leading Network Services Integrator Takes Delivery of First Cisco 56K Technology

SAN JOSE, Calif.- April 29, 1997 - Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced itsfirst delivery of 56K modem technology to a customer for extensive field testing.Cisco 56K modem cards will be integrated into Cisco AS5200 universal accessservers at CompuServe Network Services, a leading network services integrator.

Volume Cisco 56K technology shipments are expected to begin in summer 1997. Ciscohas standardized its 56K strategy on the K56flex modem protocol jointly developedby Rockwell and Lucent. Dial access servers currently under developmentincorporating Cisco's acquired Telebit Multi-Service IOS(TM) Channel Aggregation(MICA(TM)) technology will also support this open 56K standard.
