AquaPenn Deploys New Internet Services With a Cisco Access Solution

SAN JOSE, Calif. - March 4, 1997 - Cisco Systems, Inc. announcedtoday that Milesburg, Pennsylvania based AquaPenn Spring Water Company,Inc. has selected a Cisco family of switches and AS5200 remote accessservers for its local dial access network. The Cisco solution willenable AquaPenn(R) to deliver new Internet services to customers andenhance its bottled water business with Web-site capabilities.

AquaPenn and Cisco are working together to deploy an end-to-endscaleable access solution that provides high-performance dial accessplatforms and enables a variety of value-added network services throughthe Cisco IOS(TM) software platform. AquaPenn's customers will haveaccess to the Internet via AquaPenn's Web hosting services. Theflexibility and scalability of this solution enables AquaPenn to reduceits Internet-related operating expenses and decrease time to market fornew services.

AquaPenn, the nation's second-largest bottling operation, is expandingits services by offering Internet access service to businesses in thelocal community, which includes central Pennsylvania - Bellefonte,Milesburg, and Bellefonte State College. AquaPenn now supportsElectronic Data Interchange capabilities, customer order status andcustomer access to internal business processes via the World Wide Web. AquaPenn Internet services are delivered through a 50-node 10Base-TEthernet Cisco dial-access network running over two T1 lines. AquaPennhas also developed a leading-edge Web page (www.aquapenn.com) whichfeatures animation, video, virtual reality tours of its water bottlingfacility and a computer game called H2O-Zone(TM).
