SAN JOSE, CALIF. -- January 29, 1997 -- In a keynote address at theComNet '97 Conference in Washington, D.C. next week, Cisco SystemsPresident and CEO John Chambers will discuss how businesses can usenetworking and Internet technologies to gain competitive advantage. Hisaddress, entitled "Networking for Business Scalability," is scheduledfor 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 6, in the Grand Ballroom ofthe Renaissance Hotel, 999 9th Street N.W.
Chambers' presentation will highlight the business benefits of moving toa "global networked business" environment, which includes electroniccommerce and sets new standards for relationships with customers,partners, prospects, suppliers and employees. According to Chambers,companies can enable this new business model by simplifying theirnetwork infrastructures and deploying a unifying software fabric thatsupports end-to-end network services.
In a separate session on Wednesday, February 5, Cisco and three othercompanies will discuss their strategies for building switched networks.Alan Marcus, technical marketing manager in Cisco's Workgroup BusinessUnit, will participate in the panel discussion from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. inthe Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel. Marcus will address howCisco will help customers move from shared-media to switched LANs andfield questions from attendees about Cisco's switching architecture.
