SAN JOSE, Calif. - December 3, 1996 - Cisco Systems, Inc. announced today that Ontario, Canada-based Golden Triangle On Line has selected the Cisco AS5200 as its dial access platform of choice in delivering Internet Services to its subscribers. Golden Triangle selected Cisco based on its ability to deliver scalable platforms that combine a host of differentiated services and value-added Cisco IOS(TM) software features. The flexibility and scalability of these platforms enable Golden Triangle Online to lower the costs and risks involved in delivering universal access to both analog and ISDN subscribers.
"After reviewing products from a host of remote access vendors, we chose the Cisco dial access solution based on overall platform performance and the exceptional value-add of Cisco IOS software," said Tim Kutt, president of Golden Triangle Online. "Further, we have chosen Cisco as our networking vendor of choice based on the sheer magnitude of the service and commitment they have demonstrated in enabling rapid deployment of value added services to our subscribers."
Differentiated Services
Golden Triangle delivers a wide range of value-add services to its subscribers, including high-speed access to the Internet. In delivering these services, Golden Triangle relies on the Cisco AS5200 for dial access connections. Equipped with managed modems, the Cisco AS5200 is designed to accept both analog and digital calls on a single trunk line. The Cisco AS5200 is also designed to scale as call volumes increase. Cisco IOS software includes a value-add feature called Multichassis Multilink PPP, which enables the Cisco AS5200 to be stacked so that hundreds of subscriber calls can be aggregated simultaneously. To meet the requirements of ISDN subscribers, the Cisco 4000 series is being deployed in tandem with the AS5200 to deliver concentrated high-bandwidth ISDN access."Golden Triangle is an important Internet service provider win for Cisco," said Kevin Kennedy, vice president and general manager of Cisco's Access Business Unit. "It is through our ability to deliver scalable platforms such as the AS5200 that combine service creation and service management with Cisco IOS software that we are able to meet the requirements of our customers deploying advanced services to the rapidly growing number of end users dialing in."
