T1/E1 Circuit Emulation, Application-Specific QoS
T1/E1 circuit emulation, based on the ATM Forum AAL1 specification, letsusers interconnect PBX, bandwidth managers and video conferencing equipmentacross a LightStream 2020 network using constant bit rate services. TheLightStream 2020 supports up to eight T1/E1 ports per module for a maximumfanout of 72 ports -- the industry's highest port density for an enterpriseATM switch.Application Specific
High Performance Multicast, Frame Relay, Topology Map
High Performance Multicast Service (HPMS) allows the LightStream 2020 toforward multicast packets at full line rate within the ATM infrastructure.In conjunction with AS/QoS, HPMS lets the user allocate bandwidth andpriority of service by application to multicast groups. The LightStream2020's HPMS utilizes point-to-multipoint ATM connections to deliver highperformance multicast service.Frame Relay Network Node Interface allows the LightStream 2020 to connectto other vendors' frame relay switches, passing frames through a high-speedATM infrastructure.
In addition, a new topology map feature allows the user to view networkstatus -- color-coded by traffic type or priority -- and changes inphysical topology. A pop-up menu provides detailed information on allLightStream 2020s in the network.
New T3/E3 Hardware Interface Module
An eight-port T3/E3 interface card boosts performance to line speed for upto 72 T3/E3 ports on a 12-slot LightStream 2020 chassis, providing thehighest T3/E3 port density of any available switch.The new release of the Cisco LightStream 2020 will be available in August.
