Cisco Names Paul Lazay VP and General Manager of Its Enterprise ATM Business Unit

BILLERICA, Mass., May 2, 1995 - Cisco Systems, the leading global providerof enterprise networks with 1994 revenues of $1.2 billion, has named PaulD. Lazay vice president and general manager of its Enterprise ATM BusinessUnit, based here.

Lazay will head engineering and marketing teams responsible for thebusiness unit's flagship product, the Cisco LightStream2020 enterprise ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switch. He will report directly to Cisco'sPresident and CEO, John Chambers.

Lazay is the former President and CEO of Telco Systems, a Norwood,Mass.-based supplier of voice and data equipment, including switches, topublic service providers worldwide. Under Lazay's leadership, the companydecentralized management of its sales organization and increased revenuesfrom $58 million in 1988 to $102 million in 1991.

Previously, he was president and general manager of Telco Systems' FiberOptics Division, where he also served as vice president of marketing andvice president of engineering.

"Paul will make an excellent addition to the Cisco corporate managementteam, as we continue to grow our markets through focused business units,"said Don Listwin, Cisco's vice president of marketing. "He has a proventrack record at divisionalized companies with disparate physicallocations."

Before joining Telco Systems, Lazay held positions as vice president ofdevelopment and engineering at ITT Corporation's Electro-Optical ProductsDivision in Roanoke, Va. He also held various management positions atAT&T Bell Laboratories.

Lazay has a doctorate in physics from the Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology and holds three patents in the field of optical fibertechnology.

Cisco's LightStream 2020 is an enterprise ATM Campus and WAN backboneswitch. It's ideal for business applications requiring data, voice andvideo through Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, and frame relay interfaces. TheLightStream 2020 integrates with existing networks by providing FDDI andEthernet switching capabilities with a complete ATM migration path whenrequired.
