Cisco's LightStream ATM Network Switch Certified By Wiltel

BILLERICA, Mass., March 20, 1995 -- TheCisco LightStream 2020 Enterprise ATM switch has been approved byWilTel's vendor certificationprogram, recognized as one of the most extensive customer premisecertification processes in the telecommunications industry.

WilTel, one of the first interexchange companies to introducecommercial ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) services, will interconnect theLightStream 2020 wide-area and campus backbone switch with its products fora comprehensive hybrid network solution. The LightStream 2020 wasrigorously tested for interoperability with WilTel's network backbone.

Joe Uniejewski, director of marketing for Cisco's Enterprise ATMBusiness Unit, said, "WilTel certification can make it easier for customersto interconnect multiple private networks over a public ATM backbone toform a wide area network that joins metropolitan centers."

The LightStream 2020 is an enterprise ATM switch designed to provide ahigh-speed backbone for voice, video and data networks. It has the capacityfor high-performance switching and intelligent services, includingrate-based traffic management, virtual LANs, sophisticated buffermanagement and congestion avoidance.

The LightStream 2020 is part of Cisco's LightStreamfamily of ATM switches. Together with theLightStream 100workgroup/campus ATM switch,they provide the only solution for ATM connectivity across the enterprise.
