HP and Cisco to Provide CiscoWorks Enterprise Router Management on HP OpenView

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 25, 1993 -- Hewlett-Packard Company and CiscoSystems today announced that they have agreed to port the industry-leadingCiscoWorks router-management application onto HP OpenView, theindustry-leading network- and system-management platform.

CiscoWorks will be ported to HP OpenView on HP-UX(1) and SunOS,supporting both key UNIX(R)-based systems. Users now will have the criticalrouter-management applications they need across their enterprise andintegrated with the other critical HP OpenView applications.

"Our customers have been sending the message loud and clear that theyneed CiscoWorks running on HP OpenView. They want complete solutions formanaging all the devices on their networks, and they want to be able to usethe industry-leading applications and management platforms," said RobertHoog, general manager of HP's Network and Systems Management Division."This is another example of how the best-in-class applications andplatforms are coming together to solve customers' needs for integratednetwork and system management."

"Our customers have also asked that we port CiscoWorks to HP's widelyadopted OpenView management platform," said Heidi Iacurto, Cisco productmarketing manager. "This move is in concert with Cisco's established policyof providing support for industry-leading products such as OpenView."

CicsoWorks, first introduced in September 1992, is a comprehensive setof router-management applications that enables existing networkadministration staffs to manage growing networks. CiscoWorks allowscompanies to automate and centralize administration tasks and to monitorlarge, dispersed internetworks in real time.

Cisco Systems will become an HP OpenView Solutions Partner and HP willconduct certification testing to ensure tight integration for theCiscoWorks applications on the HP OpenView platform.
