Alcatel Signs OEM Agreement with Cisco for Internetworking Products

MENLO PARK, Calif., September 14, 1992 -- Cisco Systems, Inc. and Alcatel announced today that they have signed an OEMagreement wherein Alcatel will resell Cisco's completeinternetworking product line, including multiprotocol routers andcommunication servers. Cisco's products, including the CS-500, IGS,CGS, MGS, and AGS+, will become part of Alcatel's family ofcommunication products. The agreement is effective immediately.

Although the contract allows the company to sell Cisco products on an OEM basis worldwide, Alcatel expects to concentrate sales ofCisco internetworking products in Europe, where the companycurrently holds a major share of Europe's telecommunications anddata communications markets. Alcatel supplies turnkey networkingsolutions to its 5000+ data products customer base.
