MENLO PARK, Calif., April 22, 1992 -- Cisco Systems has named Frank Marshall to the position of vice president, engineering, effective immediately. Marshall comes to Cisco from Convex Computer Corporation, Dallas, Texas, where he was most recently senior vice president of product development.

Marshall, 45, is responsible for all engineering activities at Cisco and reports to John Morgridge, president and chief executive officer.

"One of the most critical factors in maintaining Cisco's rapid growth will be our continued delivery of new products to the ever- changing internetworking marketplace," Morgridge said. "Key to our success in this area will be the type of strong leadership that Frank has displayed in a number of senior roles at Convex, which, incidentally, has been a Cisco customer for many years."

In his 10 years at Convex Marshall served in a number of senior management positions, including customer service and marketing, in addition to vice president of product development. He has also been active in sales development efforts at Convex, working on partnerships with other companies. Prior to Convex, Marshall served as vice president, computer products division, at Mostek Corporation; he also worked for Computer Automation and Hughes Aircraft Company.

Marshall received a B.S.E.E. degree from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, in 1969 and an M.S.E.E. from the University of California-Irvine in 1972.

Cisco Systems, Inc., is the leading supplier of high-performance, multimedia and multiprotocol internetworking products, including routers, bridges, terminal servers and network management software. Cisco technology can be used to build enterprise-wide networks linking an unlimited number of geographically dispersed LANs. Cisco is publicly traded in the United States over-the- counter under the NASDAQ symbol CSCO.
