Cisco Systems Reports Second Quarter Earnings

Menlo Park, California, February 6, 1992 - Cisco Systems, Inc.,(NASDAQ: CSCO), today reported its second quarter results for the period endedJanuary 26, 1992. Net sales for the second fiscal quarter were $73,970,000and net income was $18,443,000, or $.58 per share. This compares to net salesof $43,949,000 and net income of $10,397,000 or $.33 per share in the sameperiod last year, and are increases of 68%, 77%, and 76% , respectively.

Net sales for the six months were $137,558,000 and net income was$33,915,000 or $1.07 per share. This compares to net sales of $76,710,000 andnet income of $18,321,000, or $.59 per share in the same period last year andare increases of 79%, 85%, and 81%, respectively.

Net income per share and number of shares used in per-sharecalculations for the periods ended January 27, 1991 reflect thetwo-for-one-stock-split which was effective March 15, 1991.

"Cisco was pleased with the level of business for the quarter whichreflects continued growth in the markets we address," said John Morgridge,president and chief executive officer. "The quarter also saw first shipmentsof key product elements of our IBM internetworking strategy, including ourlow-cost token ring router, the IGS /TR, and our SDLC Transport software thatallows IBM computers and terminals to communicate via Cisco routers."
