SAO PAULO, BRAZIL, April 16, 2012 - Community and corporate leaders and residents joined One Economy and Cisco for a special premiere of the Brazilian Beehive, a website that will connect low-income residents to online content and tools that allow them improve their lives and enter the economic mainstream. The Brazilian Beehive, the first joint initiative of One Economy and Cisco in South America, provides information on jobs, finances, health care, education, civil rights, and other issues pertinent to all residents of Brazil.

With funding from Cisco, One Economy facilitated an extensive community engagement process in developing the local content for the Brazilian Beehive. Organizations such as ATN, Oxygenio, UFRJ (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) and Faculdades Veris were instrumental in suggesting content for the Brazilian Beehive that addressed issues unique to the country, such as government welfare programs and local employment issues. The website will continue to be maintained by One Global Economy employees with support from local NGOs and university interns.
