BANGALORE, India - October 31, 2007 - Cisco® and Satyam Computer Services Limited (Satyam) today announced that they are collaborating to explore a new venture that will optimize, deploy and manage solutions for handling medical distress situations and health management solutions for global markets. The venture, in which Cisco has expressed a strategic intent to make a minority investment, is being pursued as part of Cisco's extended $100 million venture program announced today targeting Indian innovation.

The announcement was made today by John Chambers, chairman and CEO of Cisco, and B Ramalinga Raju, chairman and founder of Satyam, during the inauguration of Cisco's Globalisation Centre East campus in Bangalore.

Fundamental changes are taking place in the way in which the healthcare services are provided to citizens across the world. Many countries have a compelling need for a single-point-healthcare service. Satyam has deep expertise in Integrated Health Solutions and has developed a health IT framework - "Distress to Discharge" (D2DTM) and has proven implementation methodologies. The Integrated Health Solution provides individuals with access to first response, professional healthcare advice and support, with rapid access to trained medical experts either at designated local health centers or over a fixed/mobile phone infrastructure.

"Cisco is committed to maximizing purposeful social impact by using technology as an enabler and platform for positive change. The collaboration that we are announcing with Satyam today will serve as a globally replicable model for handling integrated health solutions that can be implemented across emerging markets," said Wim Elfrink, executive vice president and chief globalisation officer for Cisco."This network-centric model has the potential to play a major role in transforming the way countries deliver healthcare services to citizens."

Satyam has more than a decade of experience in delivering solutions to the healthcare industry, and will continue to focus directly on this market. Now, working in collaboration with Cisco, the development of a transformational business model reinforces the collective vision of both companies to service healthcare needs by effectively leveraging technology, process and domain expertise.

"Valuing and caring for life is a fundamental part of our society and has driven our social responsibility efforts. Collaborating with Cisco will help us in taking our services across the world sooner and faster. Our ultimate aim is to ensure easy access and healthcare services to the needy, across the world," said Raju.

The program is designed to work in tandem with logistics and medical healthcare support provided by local government agencies or private entities to create a complete solution. In this services-led solutions-oriented architecture, Cisco's technologies will work in an integrated way with Satyam's processes and Software Application to support this important service.

The integration of Cisco Unified Communications system and Cisco Unified Contact Center with Satyam's customized Software Applications makes these services even more citizen-friendly and effective. Taking advantage of the network as a platform for delivering managed services will also help to build a model that can be replicated across even the neediest parts of the world. The elegance of this model lies in its modularity and the scalability that internet protocol (IP) supports, together with a robust process framework which will help enable services to be rolled out in a phased manner globally.

Cisco also announced its intention to make additional investments in deploying the solutions in India as part of its continued commitment towards corporate social responsibility.
