The Network Week in Review and Look Ahead: September 17-21

Check out The Network's top stories and what to look forward to next week!

We had a great week here at The Network as we were honored with a gold statuette at the American Business Awards, also known as "The Stevies," in the category "Best Online Press Room."

Here's a look at Kati Dahm (center) and Lindsay Kniffin (right) accepting the award at the ceremony.

Our team also won a bronze for Best Facebook page and a bronze for Best Twitter feed. Let's check out some of the great content that's getting The Network attention.

1). Barcelona: Life in a Connected City

Jason Deign  takes us to the capital of Catalonia, for a look at how the city is continuing a centuries-old tradition of innovation with moves to develop a smart community model based on technology.

2). My Networked Life: Alisa Vogt, Karlsruhe

Meet a German university student who relies on networked technology to stay informed and connected as she travels around the world and pursues her academic career. It's the latest installment in our My Networked Life series.

3).  Technology 101: What Campuses Can Expect This School Year

BYOD, security, HD video... all serious issues facing IT departments as students, faculty and staff return to campus. We checked in with a university CIO for some insight and tips for what to expect this school year.

Take a look at what we have planned for next week...

  • On Monday, we continue with our Network Trailblazers series. Steve Wildstrom talks to former administration member Larry Irving about steering federal policy during the Internet's crucial early days.
  • On Tuesday, we'll take a look at the evolution of mobile payments. What are the current and future trends, what do they promise, and why adoption of the technology has been slow.

We'll catch you online next week. Have a great weekend!
