Tschudy Smith

SVP, People, Policy, & Purpose

Characterized by her unyielding belief in success and mission to see others at their best, Tschudy Smith has spent the majority of her career in the Human Resources field. She is best known for her passion for solving seemingly insurmountable problems, dissecting individual and group dynamics, as well as coaching senior leaders through key and critical transitions which have been the hallmark to her leadership strategy.  She has the unique ability to identify talent, counsel individuals on their professional development, and steer teams through transformations.

As Senior Vice President of Communities within People, Policy, & Purpose, Tschudy leads the team who are strategic consultants, trusted advisors, and advocates to Cisco’s Customer Experience, Operations, Global Sales & Marketing, and Countries teams. She partners with business leaders to reimagine organizations and communities, with a focus on both business outcomes and cultural impact. She is a firm believer that communities exist to appreciate and leverage differences, which is the bedrock to how she empowers her team to provide strategic consulting to leaders, teams, and employees alike.  

In her previous role, Tschudy partnered with EVPs and GMs to reimagine sales, operations, and services. Within her own organization, she is a key member accountable for helping implement the new operating model and has remained passionate and committed to our efforts to create an inclusive future for all. As an ally to diverse communities, programs like The Proximity Initiative and The Multiplier Effect are the efforts she sponsors to bring our mission to a reality.     

Before Cisco, Tschudy was a Director of Human Resources at Time Warner, supporting the Product Marketing and Development organizations within Netscape and America Online and started her HR career as a HR Generalist with Anthem Electronics, a national distributor of semiconductors based in San Jose, CA.    

Tschudy is also an active member of the Women of Cisco group. In recognition of Tschudy’s contributions as an executive in her field, she was honored with YWCA Silicon Valley’s Tribute to Women Award in 2020.  

Before pursuing her career in Human Resources, she worked for a non-profit organization counseling children, couples, and families dealing with conflict, abuse and significant crisis.  Inspired by her roots in non-profit work, she now sits on the board of directors for Rising Above the Storms (RAS), a non-profit organization that advocates for at-risk and orphaned youth and promotes education and empowerment in underdeveloped areas of the world. 

Tschudy graduated from the University of Denver and earned her master’s degree from San Jose State University. Outside of work, Tschudy is a proud mother to her two growing sons, and a deeply loved dog.
