Prat Bhatt is Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller at Cisco. In this capacity he leads the controllership organization with responsibility for all of Cisco's accounting, external financial reporting, and financial controls. Specifically, his responsibilities include:
SEC reporting, policy & technical accounting, revenue recognition, geographic controllership, and accounting for all functional areas including supply chain, sales, leasing, treasury, mergers and acquisitions, among others;
Global leadership for Cisco's Virtual Close (one day close);
Strategic planning, development, and improvement for all accounting systems and processes;
Sarbanes-Oxley and broader financial compliance as well as overall internal controls oversight.
He has driven numerous key initiatives at Cisco. Notable achievements include: recognition of best-in-class in financial reporting & accounting practices; leading multiple strategic initiatives; acquisition integrations; new product and service offerings; and the execution of the strategic plan for the controllership organization.
Prat currently serves as:
Vice Chair of the Board of Financial Executives International;
Vice Chair of Financial Executives International's Committee on Corporate Reporting (CCR);
Member of the Standing Advisory Group (SAG) to the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board;
and, Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Cisco Foundation.
Previously, he served as Chair of the Financial Executives Research Foundation and a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC).
Prat regularly participates in various forums and panels on financial reporting and controllership. Prat holds a masters degree in accounting from the University of Southern California, a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is a California CPA (inactive).
Prior to Cisco, he was Director of Financial Operations at Kaiser Permanente responsible for corporate financial planning and analysis, cost analysis, and corporate finance. He started his career at Ernst & Young LLP.
