Irving Tan is Senior Vice President and Chief of Operations at Cisco, and was promoted to the role in January 2018. He is responsible for Cisco's Operating strategy and implementation, to deliver growth through productivity improvements and innovation across all functions of the business, including sales, engineering, services, supply chain, and customer, partner and employee services. One of Tan's top priorities is leading Cisco's transformation into an end-to-end digital company, to accelerate the value the business brings to customers, partners, and employees.
Tan has been with Cisco for over 11 years, and is known as an exceptional leader with deep expertize in sales and global operations, and changing market and customer dynamics. His focus on people is evidenced by his track record leading high performing teams that achieve sustained results.
Prior to his current role, Tan was the leader of Cisco Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), where he grew the sales business consistently over his four years in post, and moved APJ's position forward as one of the most trusted IT partners and providers in the Asia region. Previous roles include leader of Cisco ASEAN; leader of Cisco Singapore and Brunei; and senior management in Enterprise Sales; Strategy, Planning and Operations; and Managed Services.
Tan has been an advisor to governments, industry partners, and members on various boards, to help organizations understand how to use technology to innovate and transform.
Before joining Cisco, Tan was a principal at A.T. Kearney, a management consultancy specializing in mergers and acquisition and merger integration in IT and Communications; and also worked at Hewlett-Packard as business unit leader for its Communications and Media Solutions Group in Asia Pacific and Japan.
Tan holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
