As Senior Vice President of Cisco Global Data Center/Virtualization Sales, Frank Palumbo leads a team of professionals who ensure that people, businesses, and governments worldwide adopt the most innovative and optimal solutions for storing, sharing, and virtualizing information.
He brings 20 years of Cisco sales experience to the senior leadership team, helping to pioneer and build the foundation for Cisco's data center architecture sales.
Prior to his current role, Palumbo led the Americas Data Center/Virtualization Sales team, accelerating Cisco Unified Computing sales to capture the number-two market share position in the United States for x86 blade servers within two years of its introduction. He also launched the Cisco Nexus product line in the Americas.
Before that he led Cisco's sales efforts in the storage area network marketplace, creating and building the team and processes from the ground up. Prior to that, he led teams in New York and New Jersey with responsibility for Cisco's key vertical markets, including the public sector, healthcare, pharmaceutical, finance, insurance, media, utilities, and transportation.
During the crisis of September 11, Palumbo represented Cisco in Mayor Giuliani's efforts to stabilize New York. He led, supported, and encouraged a dedicated group of people charged with providing voice and data service to the New York City Office of Emergency Management and Family Victims Center.
Before joining Cisco, Palumbo spent eight years at Wang Laboratories. He holds a degree in business administration from Rutgers University.
