Edwin Paalvast leads Cisco’s global team of sales specialists, encompassing 10 technology architectures. As the Specialists leader, his charge is to maintain a market-leading position in our core networking, security, data center, and SD-WAN businesses while accelerating growth in software as we move to a multi-cloud, application-centric world. Edwin’s unique value is matching the right people with the project to solve large-scale customer problems that deliver significant business results.
In his previous role as President of Cisco Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Russia, he led sales, field operations, and channel partnerships. His deep technology expertise, passion for customer success and innovative go-to-market strategies were foundational in transforming the organization to greater software and recurring revenue sales.
Paalvast has 25 years of IT industry experience in senior management positions. In other roles at Cisco, he served as Senior Vice President of the Service Provider market segment in the EMEAR region, where he was responsible for sales of Cisco technology and services to telecommunications, mobile and cable operators, broadcasters, and content producers in over 120 countries. Paalvast also led a strategic accounts team dedicated to developing strategic relationships with service providers and played a vital role in defining and building service provider solution sets for the region. He also served as Vice President Service Sales, European Markets, as the Sales Director for Mobile Service Providers for EMEA, and as the Director for Service Providers in the Netherlands.
Prior to joining Cisco, Paalvast was a partner in various consultancy companies. He started his career in research working for TNO, the Organisation for Applied Research, in the Netherlands.
Paalvast holds a PhD in computer science from the Technical University of Delft.
