Engineers Bring the Internet to Life
"Who wants to be a packet?" That's the question Cisco engineer Virginia Tam recently asked dozens of middle school girls in Silicon Valley, Ca. Tam and other volunteers led students through The Cisco Human Internet Game as part of "Designing Women," a one day workshop put on by The Society of Women Engineers.

The workshop's mission is to teach girls about engineering through interactive activities. The volunteers laid out a network topology on the ground and had the girls act as routers, switches and packets to simulate how a network routes traffic from one machine to another. The Cisco volunteers are all part of a group called WISE. (Women in Science and Engineering)
