FiberCorp Provides Virtualization Services With Cisco Technology
The company will offer virtual private services to 25,000 customers in Argentina
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, February 1, 2012 - FiberCorp announced today that it will offer virtual private services (VPS) to its customers as part of a cloud services family of services based on Cisco networking technology. The VPS initiative is scheduled to launch in 2012. FiberCorp offers integral telecommunications solutions to large, medium-sized and small companies as well as stores, professional organizations and governmental entities.
Unlike a traditional server, this new service gives the client access to a virtual infrastructure where processing, memory and disk space are combined according to need. Companies will be able to run their applications, perform activities, and host their data in a virtual infrastructure with a high degree of security without the expense of acquiring and maintaining equipment.
- This first cloud service offered by FiberCorp is mounted on an operating platform called FlexPod, which combines networking, computing and storing in a shared infrastructure. This platform is formed by Cisco network products (Nexus® 7000, 5000 and 2000 Series solutions and Cisco UCS™ servers), VMware virtualization solutions and NetApp storage.
- No equipment is installed; it is hired as a service, called IaaS (infrastructure as a service).
- Desca was the Cisco Gold Certified Partner in charge of the implementation.
Ignacio Ardohain, commercial manager, FiberCorp

"Today, any company in Argentina, despite its size, can access the latest technology without an investment in equipment; it just needs to hire our service, which will surely help it optimize its business."
Hernan Piñero, account manager, Cisco Service Providers
"With FiberCorp we are working to develop an effective model on the long term to offer its customers competitive cloud services in the local market. Currently with the IaaS service, FiberCorp offers flexibility and capacity on demand to its customers without the need of investing in equipment."
