BERLIN, Germany – March 24, 2015, The first solution incubated from the Cisco IoE Innovation Center in Berlin is now available to the market.  Developed in collaboration with Berlin-based company azeti Networks, a new asset management solution monitors and controls distributed infrastructure over the Internet. The solution was developed in the Cisco openBerlin IoE Innovation Center and is now available just six months after the center was announced. The center will officially open later in 2015, and is currently operating in an interim location.

Thanks to cross-organizational innovation taking place inside the center, the two companies were able to accelerate the solution's development process, bringing the solution to market much more quickly. The asset management solution is the first product from the center to be made available for market.

Sensor and camera data can be analyzed in the fog on software running directly on the router, and can then be shared over cloud computing. Through this innovative solution, companies can achieve advancements in productivity and safety enhancements as well.

Cisco has adapted the asset management software from azeti to operate on Cisco routers. In the router, the data from sensors and cameras is analyzed through "fog" computing. The analysis of that sensor data takes place on the network equipment, where azeti software has been installed.

Decisions can be taken and management commands issued rapidly as a result of that capability. As a result, the solution does not require a persistent Internet connection in order to operate, nor does it require a large amount of bandwidth into the router since only the most pertinent data is transmitted back over the wide area network.

"The collaboration between Cisco and Azeti is another example of how the concept of the Internet of Everything can be brought to life. It's great to see that joint solutions developed at Cisco's IoE Innovation Centre in Berlin, are having global impact," said Maciej Kranz, VP Corporate Technology Group, Cisco.

"With our solution, we can monitor and control, for example, mobile operator base stations," said Bernd Heinrichs, Managing Director, IoT EMEAR, Cisco. "Operators are able to keep a permanent eye on status and for example automate heating and ventilation requirements in facilities. The market potential is huge: we estimate that our solution could be applicable in 12 million mobile base stations worldwide."

"The integration of azeti and Cisco's products and skills sets in developing a common solution was unbelievably fast," according to Thorsten Schaefer, CEO of azeti Networks. "This was possible due to a close collaboration on complementary areas. With our software and Cisco hardware we can offer one of the most progressive solutions for Remote Asset Management on the market today."
