MOSCOW June 11, 2013 – Cisco today announced the deployment of a distributed telephone network based on Cisco® Unified Communications by Polymetal, a leading precious metals producer in Russia and Kazakhstan. The project, aimed at rolling up a unified resilient system of corporate communications with rich functionality, was implemented by Tecore Networks, a Cisco Premier Certified Partner in Russia.

The communications solution, based on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), unifies all media (voice, video, voicemail and instant messaging) and provides access to various communications services from a variety of devices. Any changes that take place in CUCM are immediately distributed to all phones on the network, which helps the company to reduce administrative staff and to manage the solution from one central console. In addition, the highly resilient CUCM solution eliminates single points of failure.

The deployment makes business processes in Polymetal more user-friendly. It also helps reduce the operation cost of branch offices by simplifying management systems and reducing the number of required devices.

Alexey Novoselov, commercial director, Tecore Networks:

“In order to implement the project we chose a comprehensive system – CUCM – which integrates wireline, wireless, software-based and mobile devices in the framework of a highly secure unified enterprise-class solution. In Polymetal’s headquarters we installed a cluster of two CUCM servers supporting up to 2,500 telephones. Connection to service provider networks is supported by two Cisco ISR G2 2900 Series routers operating as VPN gateways to integrate branch offices and the headquarters into a highly secure unified corporate network. These gateways solved a number of problems. They established a logical link between CUCM and service providers, as well as created a common numbering plan for communications between the headquarters and branch offices.”

Igor Rusakov, CIO, Polymetal:

“Cisco Unified Communications is a scalable, easy-to-use and cost-efficient system.”
