Cisco to Share Its Networking Expertise with Ukraine's Leading Gas Company

Cisco and Ukrtransgas Sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Cooperation

KYIV, Ukraine – October 18, 2012 – Chris Dedicoat, Cisco president of Europe, Middle East Africa and Russia, and Sergey Vinokurov, director of Ukrtransgas SC, a subsidiary of Naftogas, Ukraine's national oil and gas company, discussed joint strategic initiatives and signed a memorandum of understanding.

The MoU stipulates a working group to be formed to study previous Cisco® projects aimed at developing highly efficient corporate telecommunications for gas transmission companies, designing a network platform for an advanced system of transporting gas, improving production, and introducing innovative equipment as well as ready-made solutions to enable profitable business.

According to the MoU, the working group will also make recommendations on how to apply information technologies and services under Ukrtransgas' plan for development, focusing on complex informatization and automatization.

Cisco and Ukrtransgas intend to establish an information infrastructure designed to help corporate systems to manage manufacturing execution systems and supervisory control and data acquisition systems that enable operators to have a real-time control of technological processes. The companies also plan to cooperate in developing data center, information security and collaboration solutions.

In addition, Cisco specialists are to conduct workshops on practical implementation of the world's state-of-the-art solutions in ICT for the staff to upgrade their skills in this area.

During the meeting Chris Dedicoat presented Sergey Vinokurov with the Best Video Communication Corporate Project Award: Urktransgas deployed a videoconferencing system that combines audio and video transmission and interactive elements for the participants. Ukrtransgas was the first to successfully integrate such a large-scale system without assistance.
