WALLDORF, Germany and SAN JOSE, Calif. — June 20, 2012 — SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) and Cisco today announced a global reseller agreement, whereby SAP will offer its customers the SAP® IT Process Automation application by Cisco. This robust and flexible automation software delivers increased efficiency, visibility and control of IT operational processes in complex IT environments. It extends and complements SAP solutions, increases the value of IT investments and reduces maintenance costs.
SAP IT Process Automation by Cisco tells an IT department when a system is likely to go or has already gone down, and also detects incidents with non-SAP systems. IT solutions are critical to the organizations that deploy them, and system outages can seriously impact business. For example, sales may suffer if retail outlets are unable to print receipts, daily revenue figures may be affected if overnight billing runs can't be completed and product deliveries may be impacted with backlogs. SAP IT Process Automation can help keep outages to a minimum, increasing operational efficiency and promoting service-level success while minimizing IT upkeep efforts.
"Automation will increasingly become the major contributor to efficiency, cost-containment and risk-mitigation in the new dynamic data center models," said Flint Brenton, senior vice president, Intelligent Automation Solutions, Cisco. "As leaders in IT, it is important that we help the market as it undergoes this transformation from traditional to more dynamic, virtualized and cloud-based models. Through this agreement, we are helping to not only meet the demands for IT process automation but are doing so rapidly to address customer needs."
Through this agreement, SAP and Cisco will cooperate to deliver solutions that leverage the proven Run SAP methodology and the SAP® Solution Manager application management solution. This will provide an IT operations blueprint that aligns with business processes to help ensure continuous operations of applications and technologies across IT landscapes.
"SAP is constantly enhancing its support of customers, helping them optimize their operations of heterogeneous SAP solutions," said Stephen Spears, senior vice president, Application Lifecycle Management Software, SAP. "With SAP IT Process Automation, which is an extension of SAP Solution Manager, customers can better leverage IT operations standards and Run SAP methodology through the definition of automated resolution workflows. This agreement between SAP and Cisco will further heighten the value and increase the adoption of SAP Solution Manager as the central platform for managing SAP solutions within SAP Enterprise Support services."
SAP IT Process Automation Delivers High Service Quality Across Heterogeneous IT Landscapes
SAP IT Process Automation integrates with SAP solutions, including the SAP® ERP application, SAP Solution Manager, the SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse application and the SAP HANA® platform. With the solution, users get predefined content based on best practices that can automate the incident-response lifecycle within operations. This helps improve quality of service and service availability that maps directly to the business. It also helps automate incident-response activities and orchestrates far-reaching operations, including incidence-avoidance checks and maintenance activities essential in complex heterogeneous landscapes and cloud-based architectures.
