SAN JOSE, Calif., May 29, 2012 – Cisco will host a virtual international forum from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to announce the latest findings of the Cisco Visual Networking Index forecast on trends in global Internet traffic growth through 2016, and what it reveals about the future of broadband. Cisco will also host a panel discussion with key thought leaders on the impact of this surge in Internet growth, and its impact on businesses, policies and society.
Who:
Doug Webster, vice president, Cisco service provider group, will unveil new, groundbreaking data on trends in global Internet Protocol (IP) traffic through 2016, as projected by the latest Cisco Visual Networking Index forecast, to be announced on May 30. A new complementary study will also be shared – the Cisco VNI Service Adoption Forecast – which includes projections for residential, consumer, mobile and business services growth rates between 2011-2016.
Dr. Robert Pepper, vice president of global technology policy at Cisco, will then host a roundtable discussion with the following international policy leaders:
- Diego Molano Vega, minister of information technology and communications of the Republic of Colombia
- Kathleen Abernathy, chief legal officer and executive vice president, Frontier Communications; and former commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission
- Kevin McElearney, senior vice president, network engineering at Comcast
