Eric Rabkin

Eric Rabkin

Eric S. Rabkin is an expert on science fiction, fantasy, visual rhetoric and academic computing.  He has authored more than 30 books, mainly on popular culture and aesthetic perception, and he has lectured around the world on these topics and others such as academic administration, pedagogy and humor.

Rabkin was, until summer 2013, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Professor of English Language and Literature, and Professor of Art and Design at the University of Michigan where he founded the Genre Evolution Project that studies culture as a complex adaptive system.  

He is currently Professor of Writing and Rhetoric and Associate Provost for Online Education at Stony Brook University.
