Senior Vice President and General Manager, Switching and Wireless Group
Sri Hosakote is Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Switching and Wireless Group at Cisco. He is responsible for delivering the company's core technology platforms, including the Catalyst, Nexus switching, and Enterprise Wireless portfolios to ensure standardization and efficiency across other core platforms.
During his 19 years at Cisco, Hosakote has participated in many critical parts of the business from Service Provider to Data Center. As Vice President of Engineering, he was pivotal in achieving many company milestones, including the innovative and highly successful Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. He was also instrumental in founding the Service Provider Routing team and setting up Cisco India Engineering Operations in Bangalore.
Hosakote brings over 20 years of business and technology experience. He began his career as a founding member of a Bangalore start-up, later joining Sprint Communications, and then Retix, Inc. as a software engineer.
Hosakote is a board member of Ascend North California Chapter (South Bay), a founding member of Corporate Executive Initiative, and advisor to Silicon Valley cloud software start-up Fonemine. He is also a U.S. patent holder. In 2009, he was awarded the UMKC School of Computing and Engineering Alumni Achievement Award in recognition of his professional success and outstanding service to the community.
Hosakote holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Bangalore University, a master of science degree in computer science and networking from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and a master of business administration degree in technology management.
