John Brigden Senior Vice President, Software Strategy & Operations
John Brigden is responsible for Cisco’s software business strategy. Working in close collaboration with Cisco’s development and services leaders, Brigden’s focus is to develop Cisco’s software strategy and operating capabilities, including new and emerging consumption models, operating practices, licensing and pricing and ISV/developer programs.
John Brigden has more than fifteen years of experience in the IT and security industry, in addition to his involvement in legal and regulatory affairs, compliance and intellectual property management. He has extensive experience in software, licensing, SaaS, security and storage as well as operational, strategy and sales management leadership.
Prior to joining Cisco, Brigden served as Senior Vice President, Verticals Business and Enterprise Business Strategy. He also ran Symantec’s EMEA business for seven years. Prior to his general manager roles, he served as General Counsel of Symantec and VERITAS. Before that, he held senior management positions, supporting sales and corporate development as well as legal affairs for emerging and large technology companies, including Shutterfly, Inc. and Silicon Graphics, Inc. His technical background includes engineering positions at Rockwell International and General Motors Corporation.
Brigden holds a J.D. degree with honors from Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with honors from Purdue University. He is a member of the California Bar Association and licensed to practice law in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
