SAN JOSE, Calif. - November 3, 1997 - Cisco Systems, Inc. announced today that it has shipped one million Cisco 2500 series routers, solidifying its leadership position in the remote access router market.
The Cisco 2500 series began shipping in January 1994. By March 1995, 100,000 units had been sold, and the 500,000-unit mark was reached in August 1996. The million-unit milestone makes the 2500 series the most popular router in the networking industry.
The Cisco 2500 series includes more than 20 models, each optimized to meet specific LAN and WAN requirements for branch offices and small and medium-sized businesses.
John Chambers, president and CEO of Cisco Systems, Inc. said, "We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for using Cisco products to connect people, computing devices and computer networks together all over the world.
