Telephone Organization of Thailand Builds Converged Voice and Data IP Network with Cisco Systems Equipment
Thailand's leading telecommunications company offers leading-edge IP-based services including Voice over IP on Cisco-based infrastructure
BANGKOK, Thailand - July 10, 2002 - Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, is providing equipment for use by the Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT), Thailand's leading telecommunications company, to build a nation-wide IP-based backbone network. The Cisco-based network is facilitating the delivery of leading-edge IP-based services such as Voice over IP to TOT's 7 million retail and business customers throughout the country.
TOT's Y-Tel 1234 domestic long-distance telephone service runs over the Cisco VoIP network and enables TOT's customers to enjoy cost savings of 37 to 70 per cent off traditional long-distance charges. The Cisco VoIP solution provides TOT with a reliable, scalable and flexible platform to expand their VoIP service.

TOT's converged voice and data network consists of a nationwide IP backbone built with Cisco's flagship 12000 series Internet Routers (www.cisco.com/go/12000). The network also utilizes Cisco 7500 (www.cisco.com/go/7500) and 3600 (www.cisco.com/go/3600) routers as well as voice and dial gateways based on the Cisco AS5300 platform (www.cisco.com/go/as5300).
